BLACK MENTAL HEALTH PROMOTION

“Toward Positive Change to Promote Mental Health and Wellbeing for Black Canadians in Manitoba” “Toward Positive Change to Promote Mental Health and Wellbeing for Black Canadians in Manitoba”

Dear Community Leader,

As you know we have been running this Mental Health Promotion Project since November 2019 for Black Canadians in Manitoba. We have put together a Mental Health Promotion Toolkit.

Thank you to those who participated already, however, we are still in need of more participants.

You’re invited to send a minimum of one (1) maximum of three (3) representatives to participate in the study. Participants need to be those who have not been involved with the project to date, for example in a focus group or the key informant webinar or any occupants of that same household. We encourage you to consider a mixture of gender, role, age, and length of time with the organization.

We need to determine the effectiveness of the Mental Health Promotion Toolkit for Black Canadians, which will include the following:

  • Completion of a consent form-Attendance at an online orientation session (under 3 hours)
  • Completion of an orientation pre-survey
  • Post- orientation survey
  • Organization follow up survey after 3 months

We had planned to conduct this study in small in-person gatherings but due to the challenges posed by COVID-19, we are organizing small groupings online via Zoom. Confidentiality and privacy will be respected and ensured.

Each participant needs to CLICK HERE to complete a consent form. The Zoom link will be provided after the Consent form is completed. Please have each of your representatives complete the consent form on or before March 8, 2021, which we will accept as their permission for us to contact them further if necessary.

We will show our gratitude through a token of appreciation of $50 per participant.

Please feel free to contact us at info@blackmentalhealthpromotion.ca or call 204-202-7197, if you or your representatives have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

Charlotte Lwanga BA/MA/MSc, Principal Investigator
Antoinette Zloty  BSW/MSW, Co-Investigator
